  • Q. Can I drive to the ropeway boarding station?

    We apologize, but the section of the Komagatake Park Line (Prefectural Route) between Kurokawadaira and Shirabidaira is closed to general vehicle traffic.
    Please transfer to the route bus and proceed to Shirabidaira Station. For more details, please visit the “Access” page.

  • Q. What's Senjojiki like right now?

  • Q. Does the ropeway run even in winter?

    We operate year-round. (Service may be suspended due to weather conditions or other factors.)

  • Q. What time should I take the route bus and the ropeway for a day trip?

    Please board a route bus no later than one hour before the last scheduled bus of the day.

  • Q. Are pets allowed?

    For the protection of the natural environment, animals are not permitted on the route bus or the ropeway. We appreciate your understanding.

  • Q. Can I use a credit card on the ropeway?

    Credit cards and UnionPay cards are accepted for payment of standard fares (non-discounted fares) and fares for passengers with disabilities. Please note that this service is available only at the Suganodai Bus Center and Senjojiki Station.

  • Q. If I travel by highway bus, where should I transfer to the route bus?

    If you get off the highway bus at the “Komagane IC” bus stop, please board the route bus at the “Nyotai-Iriguchi” bus stop.
    If you get off the highway bus at the “Komagane Bus Terminal” in Komagane City, you can board the route bus at the “Suzuran-Dori” bus stop.

About Tourism

  • Q. When is the best time to see alpine flowers?

    While the blooming period for alpine plants varies slightly from year to year depending on factors such as rainfall during the rainy season, the peak blooming season is generally considered to be from mid-July to late August.

  • Q.  When is the best time to see the fall foliage?

    The timing of the autumn foliage depends on the amount of sunshine that year and the temperature drops in the mornings and evenings. While the foliage doesn’t necessarily peak on the same day every year, the best viewing period at the summit begins around late September. The foliage then progresses in the following order: within the Senjojiki Cirque, the views from the ropeway, the area around Shirabidaira, and along the route bus. You can enjoy watching the foliage spread all the way to the area around Suganodai in the Komagane Highlands through the end of November.

  • Q.  When will it snow?

    The first snowfall may arrive as early as mid-October, and the region enters the depths of winter in December.

  • Q.  Is this an area with cell phone coverage?

    Coverage varies depending on your mobile carrier, but service is available in certain areas.

    While the ropeway makes mountain climbing more accessible despite the high elevation, there is always a risk of injury or accidents in the mountains. We strongly recommend that you prepare thoroughly in advance and climb with an experienced companion.

    Credit cards and UnionPay cards are accepted at Hotel Senjojiki (standard rates, no discounts) and 2612 Café & Restaurant.

    We apologize, but the baths at Hotel Senjojiki are not available for day visitors. They are reserved for hotel guests only.

About Accessible

  • Q. Can I use public buses in a wheelchair?

    The local buses to the ropeway station are specially designed for mountain terrain and have two steps. The bus stops that accommodate wheelchair users are “Suganodai Bus Center” and “Shirabidaira.” Please note that we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users at other stops, as boarding requires a large ramp and the assistance of staff. If you wish to board the bus while remaining in your wheelchair and having it secured in place, we can accommodate only one wheelchair per bus.

  • Q. Can I use the Mt. Komagatake Ropeway in a wheelchair?

    Since there are stairs and other obstacles, our staff can assist you if needed. Please feel free to let us know if you need any help.

  • Q. Are there wheelchair-accessible Western-style restrooms?

    Yes. There are wheelchair-accessible Western-style restrooms at each ropeway station and at the Suganodai Bus Center. Please feel free to use them.

  • Q. Can I enter Senjojiki Cirque in a wheelchair?

    The walking paths within the park are unpaved. It is difficult to navigate them in a wheelchair.
