The Central Alps are home to rare and unspoiled natural landscapes, including Mt. Kiso-Komagatake, one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains, and spectacular glacial landforms formed around 20,000 years ago. Protected as a Quasi-National Park, the area offers breathtaking scenery throughout the year, with each season revealing its own unique beauty.
From Senjojiki Cirque, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Japan’s three highest peaks, including Mt. Fuji, Mt. Kitadake, and Mt. Ainodake. The beautiful mountain range beneath the crystal-clear blue sky is truly breathtaking.
The Central Alps Komagatake Ropeway connects Shirabidaira Station (1,662m) with Senjojiki Station (2,612m), located at the famous Senjojiki Cirque below Mt. Hoken. With a vertical rise of 950 meters, it has the greatest elevation gain of any ropeway in Japan. Senjojiki Station, located at an elevation of 2,612 meters, is the highest station in Japan.

SO・RA・TO・KI is a terrace known as Japan’s terrace closest to the sky, offering panoramic views of Senjojiki Cirque and Mt. Hōken while allowing visitors to experience the magnificent nature of the Central Alps up close. The name SO・RA・TO・KI is inspired by the Japanese phrases Sora to Ki (“Sky and Trees”) and Sora to Toki (“Sky and Time”). It expresses the idea of a place where visitors can feel close to the sky, connect with the warmth of nature and wood, and enjoy a relaxing and memorable time. The terrace’s signature color, Senjojiki Blue, was inspired by the deep blue sky, evoking the color of outer space from Japan’s terrace closest to the sky.
