Opened in 1967, the Komagatake Ropeway was Japan’s first mountain ropeway, built to Senjojiki Cirque at the foot of Mount Hoken in the Central Alps. Its upper station stands at an elevation of 2,612 m, the highest ropeway station in Japan. Visitors can enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the Central Alps throughout the four seasons.
The Route Bus operates year-round between JR Komagane Station and Shirabidaira Station, the base station of the Komagatake Ropeway. It offers convenient transportation for ropeway visitors while also serving as an important daily bus service for local residents.
Located next to Senjojiki Station, the upper station of the Komagatake Ropeway, this spectacular destination offers breathtaking views of the Senjojiki Cirque and Mount Hoken to the west, and the Ina Valley, the Southern Alps, and Mount Fuji to the east.
