■Outline of the Ropeway

This first alpine ropeway in Japan hoists you up to a cirque, popularly called "Senjojiki Kaaru," directly below Mt. Hoken (2,931 meters above sea level) of the Central Alps (Chuo Alps). The aerial cableway was built in 1967 and renewed in 1998. Mt. Komagatake, the main peak of the Central Alps, soars to a height of 2,956 meters above sea level. The view from this midsummer paradise is beyond description. You can enjoy the superb panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, the peaks of the Southern Alps, Mt. Ontake, Mt. Norikura and the peaks of the Northern Alps. And it is famous as a treasure-house of alpine plants.
