”The Central Alps - A natural paradise floating above a sea of clouds.

Tall mountains stretch north and south from central Mt Komagatake, creating the Central Alps. Affording an unbroken view of peaks such as Mt Ontake, the Northern Alps, the Tateyama mountain range, the Southern Alps and Mt Fuji, this place is also famous as a treasure house of alpine plants. The eCentral Alps Komagatake Ropewayf was erected to enable everyone easy access to the natural beauty of these mountains, ravines and forests.

”No Pets Please

For the purpose of protecting nature and ecosystem, you are not allowed to take your pets with you on the bus to the Komagatake Ropeway and the ropeway. This rule, however, does not apply to seeing-eye dogs and hearing-ear dogs.

”Mountain Climbing

Conditions change suddenly - even summer days only average a low 12fC. It is even chillier in the shade, so light clothing is not recommended. In good weather there are few dangers, but a coat and long pants are common sense requirements. Sturdy shoes, gloves, hat and rain gear are essential! Be exceptionally cautious if climbing in winter or after snowfalls. Snow conditions are controlled by the weather and conditions change rapidly. Climb within the bounds of your equipment and physical abilities and do not be tempted further by the beauty of the mountain. Setting off without appropriate skills and equipment can lead to accidents. Always remember gYou control the level of dangerh.

”Help Conserve Nature

It is prohibited to collect, move or take any flora or fauna from the mountains. Even insects, dead trees, fallen branches or fallen leaves etc cannot be removed without prior permission. Alpine plants are particularly important to scientists. Once destroyed they do not regenerate. Care must be taken to preserve them. Flowers should of course not be picked, but even when taking photos it is more environmentally friendly to use a telephoto lens to capture shots of distant flowers. All rubbish must be removed and no rubbish should be left behind. Any discarded waste changes the environment of the animals, disturbs the ecosystem & leads to degradation of the natural environment. The mountain trails are narrow, so please cooperate with other climbers so all can progress smoothly
